Blackspot upgrade of the Rockingham Road and Spearwood Avenue intersection for the City of Cockburn, improving safety for all users.
Civcon is delivering a Blackspot Intersection Upgrade at Rockingham Road & Spearwood Avenue, Spearwood, for the City of Cockburn. The works include the upgrading of the signalised intersection to improve safety for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians.
The scope of works includes demolition of the existing intersection, installation of new kerbing and footpaths, pavement stabilisation of the existing road, profiling and asphalt works, upgrading of the traffic signal system, and installation of new signs and line markings. Demolition works involve removing existing kerbing and concrete paving at the median islands, along with box-out and subgrade preparation to make way for new pedestrian walkthroughs.
New kerbing and footpaths are being constructed throughout the intersection, including distinctive red herringbone "faux brick" concrete paving at the median infill areas and new concrete footpaths. Tactile Ground Surface Indicators are also being replaced to current accessibility standards, improving safety for vision-impaired pedestrians crossing the intersection.
