Civcon were awarded this Australian Government funded contract from the Water Corporation which was aimed at improving the security of the Christmas Island water supply and enhance water sustainability on the Island.

Scope of works

Scope of works

  • Excavation and dewatering of pipe trenches
  • Fabrication of steel pipes
  • Trench excavation
  • Import and placement of new pipe bedding material
  • Construction of water distribution main and decommissioning of existing water main
  • Supply and installation of pipework fittings
  • Laying of DN250 S2 PN 20 MPVC Pipe
  • Laying of bypass main
  • Laying of MSCL pipe specials
  • Supply and installation of concrete thrust blocks, gate valves, butterfly valves and air valves
  • Backfill and compaction of excavated pipe trenches
  • Pressure testing and commissioning
  • Site reinstatement and road restoration
  • Cutting and capping of existing PE water main at the access track entrance to Summit tank
  • Cutting and capping of DN200 PVC main at Drumsite tank
  • Removal of existing air valves, scour valves and isolation valves on main to be decommissioned
  • Complex environmental management
