Project overview

Civcon was contracted by PTA to conduct upgrade and construction works at three train stations, Kelmscott, Gosnells and Cannington stations, to ensure compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), specifically the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport and Disability Access for Premises.

As the works were delivered, across the three stations, within a live rail and bus environment, Civcon ensured that our design and construction methodologies allowed for the stations to remain operational throughout the works.

Scope of works

Scope of works

  • Refit and remodelling of disabled toilets; including new doors, toilets, change tables, grab rails, signage and accessories
  • Upgrades and changes to tactile paving in line with compliant upgrades for footpaths, parking bays, pram and landing ramps
  • Adjustments to handrails, stairs, tactile pavers, chairs and bins, lighting and CCTV at each station
  • Replacement of upgraded protective fencing along the train station platforms
  • Upgrades to the Gosnells Bus interchange involving new kassel kerbs, upgraded bus stands and bus shelters, and installation of a 72m long, 4m high bus shelter, inclusive of lighting, drainage and CCTV. The bus interchange was installed alongside the live PTA rail reserve.
