Project overview

Civcon were awarded these works involving the construction of 1.2km of new DN180 PE sewer pressure main within Denmark, WA. Installation was undertaken primarily using trenchless installation techniques, horizontal directional drilling, and micro tunnelling. The scope of work also included the replacement of valves and pipework at the pump station in the wet well and installation of a new valve pit.

Scope of works

  • Excavation of pipe trenches and earthworks including protection of existing trees
  • Installation of approximately 1,230m of DN180 PE100 HSCR SDR9 by horizontal directional drilling (approximately 1,180m)
  • Open cut methods (approximately 85m)
  • Installation in RC sleeve (approximately 75m) via trenchless micro tunnelling
  • Installation of approximately 75m of DN450 RC jacking pipe under South Coast Highway, and approximately 12m of DN225 PVC gravity sewer by open excavation
  • Installation of the flow meter chamber, flow meter, mobile pump branch and isolation valve at the WWPS site
  • Construction of new pressure main up to the isolation valve at the Hollings Road pump station site
  • Installation of a new magflow meter pit
  • SCADA reconfiguration and 24V DC power for the new flow transmitter
  • Pressure testing and commissioning of the new pressure main and gravity sewer
  • New wet well internal pipework, DN150 delivery pipework and type 40 pre-cast valve pit
  • Capping of the decommissioned existing DN150 AC pressure main
