Project overview

Civcon was contracted by Downer Group to install a new 900mm water main pipeline along Denny Avenue in Kelmscott as part of the greater METRONET Level Crossing Removal program. The success of the rail component of the project (conducted by Downer) hinged on Civcon’s relocation and installation of the water main.

Scope of works

Offloading and stringing of Client supplied pipe at the pipe alignment location
Supply and installation of all valves, valve chambers, bends and associated fittings
Offsite fabrication of pipe bends
Trench excavation including shoring where required
Installation of pipe per Water Corporation specifications
Backfill and compaction of excavated pipe trenches to top of subgrade level
Pipeline pressure testing and disinfection (DCP 12.2)
Export of unsuitable material per the Main-Contractor Geotech report
Import of clean fill sand in-lieu of exported excavated material
Dewatering
Quality documentation and construction verification per Water Corporation specification
