Project overview

Civcon were appointed by the Water Corporation to undertake the renewal of the water distribution main along Lockhart Street in Como, which supplies to the reticulation network in the southern part of Como, Manning, and Salter Point. The section crossing Canning Highway was renewed in 2019 using flexible pipelining, and Civcon was engaged to renew the remaining two sections of approximately 1,030m and 555m located north and south of the highway.

Civcon was responsible for the design, procurement, manufacture, supply, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of the DN300 MSCL water distribution main.

Scope of works

Scope of works

  • Preparation and management of design for the pipe alignment, safety reports, and design submissions
  • Location and identification of existing services and obstructions along the water main route
  • Location, testing, and verification of existing infrastructure to which the new main was to be connected (4 x connection points)
  • Implementation of safety, traffic, environmental plans and commissioning plan
  • Liaison with MRWA, City of South Perth, and service utilities
  • Survey, excavation and installation of pipe trenches, 1.5kms of DN300 MSCL RRJ pipe and associated fittings
  • Supply and installation of valves, associated fittings and thrust restraints
  • Pipeline pressure testing and disinfection
  • Testing and commissioning of the works
  • Site restoration, road reinstatement and disposal of surplus excavated material to City of South Perth requirements
